Originating in Indonesia; batiking is a technique where wax-resistant dye is applied to a fabric either by hand-drawing patterns or hand-printing with a copper stamp then dipping the fabric in dye, revealing negative space where the wax had been applied. This process is repeated with various dyes and designs until the entirety of the fabric is patterned.
